Berovo

Berovo, located in North Macedonia, is gaining popularity among both domestic and foreign tourists. With its proximity to the Bulgarian border, it has become a popular destination, particularly for Bulgarian visitors. Once overshadowed by destinations like Ohrid and Skopje, Berovo has become a major player on the tourist map. From top hotel complexes to small private weekend cottages, the area around Berovo is attracting more visitors each year. At an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level, the easternmost city in the country offers a refreshing air spa experience and has much to offer visitors in all seasons.

There is enormous potential for the Berovo region to become the “Little Switzerland” of the Balkans, but it will require investments in new accommodation capacities, infrastructure, urban planning, and the tourism and hospitality sectors. The Maleševo Mountains, also known as the “white lungs,” offer an ideal vacation destination in all seasons, with a milder climate that is perfect for escaping the city heat. The area is also known for its clean mountain air and rich gastronomic scene.

Berovo is a paradise for the eyes and the soul, and a healing place for the lungs. The area around the Berovo Lake has been a popular destination for decades, particularly for children, due to the fresh, unpolluted air. If you are seeking a relaxing vacation far from the hustle and bustle of the city, amidst beautiful, untouched nature, then Berovo is the perfect destination for you.

Berovo, located in the Malesevo valley, experiences a moderate-continental climate with variations in the high mountain and flat areas. In comparison to other areas of the valley at the same altitude, Berovo has a significantly lower average annual air temperature. At an altitude of 800m, the average annual temperature is 11.1°C, whereas in Berovo, it is 8.7°C. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of -10°C, while the warmest month is July, with an average temperature of +18°C. The months of May, June, and November experience the greatest precipitation, while August and September are the driest. On average, there are 42.2 days annually with snow cover.
