Tikvesh Wine Region

Tikves Winery

Location:

Heart of the Tikvesh region, near Kavadarci.  

One of the most famous wineries in North Macedonia, Tikves Winery has a long history dating back to the 19th century and produces some of the finest wines in the country. The winery offers wine tastings, tours, and a chance to learn about the wine-making process. You can also enjoy a delicious meal at their restaurant while taking in stunning views of the vineyards.

How to Reach:

  • From Skopje (120 km, 1.5 hours): Take the A1 highway south toward Gevgelija. Exit at Negotino and follow signs to Kavadarci. The winery is well-signposted from the town center.
  • From Bitola (80 km, 1 hour): Take the A3 highway north, then connect to A1 toward Veles. Exit at Negotino and continue to Kavadarci.

Popova Kula Winery

If you’re looking for a more intimate experience, this small family-owned winery in the picturesque village of Demir Kapija produces some of the finest wines in the country. How to Reach:

  • From Skopje (130 km, 1.5 hours): Take A1 highway south, exit at Demir Kapija. The winery is located in the dramatic gorge area, follow signs through the village.
  • From Bitola (90 km, 1 hour 15 minutes): Take A3 north to A1 south, exit at Demir Kapija. Drive through the spectacular canyon landscape.
